Berker, which belongs to the Hager Group and is associated with electrical switches and building technology systems, has been producing high-quality plastic components for the last 40 years using injection moulding machines from Arburg GmbH (
www.arburg.com).
Following decades of successful co-operation, Berker’s 100th Allrounder machine was accorded a ‘ceremonial handover’.
Head of production Sebastian Walther, who travelled to Arburg in Lossburg with Christoph Koch of Berker’s production management team to officially take delivery of the anniversary machine — said: “With our 100th Arburg, we are entering a new era. It is the first three-component Allrounder — and also the first 630 S size of machine with 2,500kN of clamping force.”
This Allrounder 630 S, which is equipped with a Multilift robotic system, forms part of an advanced turn-key system.
Mr Walther said: “We will use this production cell for the fully automated production of a new switch series.
We initially came to Lossburg armed only with the mould drawing, but based on that — and together with Arburg — we developed a new production concept, and now we have an efficient turn-key solution that fully meets our needs.”
At the ceremonial handover of the anniversary machine, Ralf Müller — Arburg’s head of technology and key account management — said: “Since the purchase of the first Allrounder in 1978, there has hardly been a year in which Berker did not buy a machine from us.
"Their machine fleet now comprises hydraulic, hybrid and electric Allrounders, as well as vertical machines.” The Hager Group has 11,400 employees and had a turnover of 1.9 billion euros in 2017.
Components and solutions are produced at 23 locations around the world and sold to customers in more than 120 countries.
